George\, Ph.D.\, FIEEE\nMickle Chair Professor\, Department Chair\, and NSF SHREC Center Director\nDepartment of Electrical and Computer Engineering\, University of Pittsburgh \nSince launching at Pitt in 2017\, the NSF Center for Space\, High-performance\, and Resilient Computing (SHREC) has grown into one of the nation’s leading academic centers for research in space computing\, sensing\, and other critical areas of space engineering. SHREC now includes approximately 30 university\, industry\, government\, and institute partners working together to advance research and workforce development for the U.S. space community. \nThis webinar will also highlight Pitt Space\, a university-wide initiative launched in 2024 that includes more than 100 faculty members and students with the goal of establishing Pitt as a recognized space university. The program will also touch on the 2026 launch of the Trivedi Institute for Space and Global Biomedicine\, which includes a world-class leadership team and a NASA astronaut. \nDr. George is a Fellow of IEEE and founder of the NSF SHREC Center.
