SUMMARY:ESWP Program: The Future of Autonomous Vehicles
DESCRIPTION:The future of the autonomous vehicle is nearer than most people realize.  Every day our local news reports on developments in this dynamic industry\, but with so many issues to contend with\, where will it all go?  Join us on April 25 to hear from a panel of experts as we try to address some of these concerns.  Included are: \nRoger Cohen\, PennDOT’s Director of Policy and Co-Chair of the Secretary of Transportation’s Autonomous Vehicle Task Force; “Key Issues Facing the Development of Autonomous Vehicles in Pennsylvania” \nRoger Cohen has been PennDOT Policy Director since July\, 2015. As Policy Director\, Roger advises Transportation Secretary Leslie S. Richards on all matters affecting transportation policy within the Department and the Commonwealth.  He is directly responsible for serving as the Department’s liaison with the Governor’s Office and other Commonwealth agencies on policy and regulatory matters.  He serves as co-chair of the Pennsylvania Autonomous Vehicle Policy Taskforce. His other principal areas of policy focus have been improving pedestrian safety and reducing the climate impacts of the transportation system. \n  \nDan Cessna\, P.E.\, District Executive\, PennDOT District 11-0\, “Local Implementation and Infrastructure Impacts \nDaniel Cessna\, P.E.\, is responsible for overseeing all transportation planning\, design\, construction\, and maintenance for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation\, Engineering District 11-0\, serving the Pittsburgh metropolitan area\, consisting of 2\,557 miles of roads\, 1\,806 bridges\, and four tunnels. As District Executive\, he oversees 790 employees in Allegheny\, Beaver\, and Lawrence Counties and a $450 million annual budget. Dan also served on the Secretary of Transportation’s Autonomous Vehicle Task Force. \n  \nSean Luther\, Executive Director\, Envision Pittsburgh\, “Urban Planning Considerations” \nSean Luther is responsible for managing Envision Downtown – a public private partnership created by City of Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and the PDP to craft a 21st century vision for the sustainable and efficiency development of a Downtown for all. Envision leverages a robust data development program to implement a series of short-term\, accelerated infrastructure projects with the goal of informing longer-term transformative changes to the City’s mobility networks. \n  \nCraig Shuey\, COO\, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission\, “Smart Belt Task Force” \nCraig Shuey joined the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as Government Affairs Director in August 2009 after 15 years with the Pennsylvania Senate.  In January 2011\, the Commission appointed Craig as the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Chief Operating Officer.  In this role\, Craig is responsible for oversight\, management and planning for the day-to-day operation of the 552miles of Turnpike\, more than 2\,000 employees and multiple facilities including 65 toll-collection facilities\, 27 maintenance facilities and 17 service plazas.  The Chief Operating Officer has direct oversight of several departments including: Traffic Engineering and Operations\, Maintenance\, Toll Collection\, Policy and External Affairs\, Human Resources and Legislative Affairs.  Craig represents the Commission on the EZ-Pass Group and the multi-state cooperative effort on advanced vehicle system research\, known as Smart Belt. \n  \n11:30 am arrival & registration \n12:00 noon luncheon service \nPanel discussion to follow \n  \nPurchase tickets below and please list attendee name(s) in the ‘Order Notes’ field on checkout page.
