An ESWP Program Committee Webinar – Steel Bridges
September 21, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Steel Bridges in the 21st Century
Steel bridges have been designed, fabricated, and constructed for over 100 years, with many centurion steel bridges still in-service today! However, the steel bridges we design and fabricate today are not your parents, your grandparents, or even your great-grandparents bridges. This presentation will address both historic trends, as well as recent innovations and developments in the steel bridge industry, touching on available resources, materials, and design advancements that may be a benefit to you on your next steel bridge project.
Presented by:
Brandon Chavel, Ph.D., P.E., is the Director of Market Development for the National Steel Bridge Alliance, a division of the American Institute of Steel Construction. He dedicates time to providing technical assistance, tools, and resources for steel bridges to bridge owners, designers, fabricators, and technical committees. Prior to joining the NSBA, Brandon spent 17 years in the bridge consulting profession with HDR, Inc. as a senior bridge engineer and bridge section manager in Cleveland. Brandon earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
