President’s Reception Highlights…….
Great turnout last night at the ESWP Presidentâs Reception, in honor of incoming President Robert J. Ward, P.E. (CannonDesign) and the entire Board of Directors. Guests were treated to a sumptuous buffet filled with delicious items from Chef Kevin. Everyone at the gathering enjoyed great networking as well â it really has the feel of a homecoming – it seemed that no one wanted the evening to end!

ESWP News – June Recap!
So, it has been a very busy June at ESWP! Looking back, the month has just flown by and I canât believe the month is almost over.
We began the month with the 34th Annual International Bridge Conference in National Harbor, MD, attracting almost 1,300 attendees and a record-high number of exhibitors. The four day conference was very well received, indicated by the many, many positive comments we received onsite and in our post-conference surveys.
Then, the ESWP Program Committee planned two great events, including our annual PNC Park Tailgate Party, and the Womenâs Roundtable Luncheon. What an honor it was to have three commissioner chairs of Beaver, Butler and Westmoreland Counties participate in a panel discussion moderated by KDKAâs Jon Delano! (pictured below) Mr. Delano featured excerpts of the discussion on the evening news.
In between these events, our International Water Conference webinar series conducted another successful webinar, and our âBoard Serves Youâ June installment went off without a hitch! Donât forget the ESWP Dining Room will close over the week of July 4, and we look forward to serving you again on our re-opening of July 10.
Save the date now for July 19 to come in for lunch to see 1st Vice-President Bob Ward and Board Secretary Jamie McMaster at the July âBoard Serves Youâ lunch. Have a happy and safe 4th!
ESWP Events!
We have a couple of great events planned for June at ESWP.  Our annual PNC Park tailgate event is set for June 14 â this is a great night out at the âol ballyard. Save the date.
On June 27, our two celebrity servers, (Bob Roell and Chris Hill), will be serving you in the dining room, that is, if you come out to lunch that day! This monthly event has been a lot of fun for everyone in attendance. Reservations, please.
And our third event in June is the Womenâs Roundtable Luncheon on June 28. Remember: Men are welcome! The guests for this event are three local county commissioners -check our event page for details and to make a reservation.
Remember that ESWP will be closed over the week of July 4. Have a safe and happy summer holiday break!
âThat waiter looks a lot like the Presidentâ
Thatâs what we expect to hear on February 28 when ESWP President Dan Cessna of PennDOT takes to the floor of the ESWP Members Executive Dining Room, walking the walk that the ESWP is literally here to serve you! Dan, accompanied by fellow Board Member Michelle Antantis of Duquesne Light Company will be the celebrity waiters on that day. Save room on your lunch schedule now to be a part of the day.
Soft Skills Update!
Soft Skills continues to draw! ESWP Board member Amy Veltri (NGE) presented an interesting and informative talk on the âsoft skillsâ that everyone can benefit from in todayâs workplace. Amyâs best advice: âBe creative, ask for opportunities, listen to directions, and know expectations and exceed them!â
ESWP Program Event

ESWP Young Member Forum highlights
Summer fun! The ESWP Young Member Forum combined forces with those of the ASCE, ASHE, EWB, TBP and SAME in hosting a Summer Social on August 19. The event was held at the Pittsburgh Engineersâ Building and featured craft beers, and a special summer Sangria cooler, along with lots of great food. Each of the hosting groups provided a gift basket for door prize table, where attendees could try their luck at baskets of their choosing. Representatives from each of the hosting groups also previewed their upcoming continuing education activities. Keep an eye on the ESWP website for the next mixer, scheduled for the December holiday season. For more information on ESWPâs Young Member Forum, contact Outreach Coordinator Taylor Bombalski.
