Solids Multifunctional Antiscalant for Reverse Osmosis – CrestoPro R594

CREST Water is an innovative company manufacturing a range of antiscalants, corrosion inhibitors and biocides for industrial water systems. A new solid multifunctional antiscalant, CrestoPro R594, has been developed for the control of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, iron oxide and silt on a membrane in a Reverse Osmosis Plant. In addition, Langelier saturation index (LSI) versus CrestoPro R594 dose level and calcium sulfate saturation index versus CrestoPro R594 dose level will be presented which can be used by RO Operators or in the CrestoDose prediction program. This innovation, CrestoPro R594, can be used by RO Operators as it is safe to store, easy to handle, can be transported easily unlike liquid antiscalants, and readily solubilised in an anitiscalant dosing tank without the need for transfer pumps. CrestoPro R594 has NSF 60 approval and hence can be used in drinking water plants.

Monday, 11/4; 3:00 PM Tom Imbornone, Avista Technologies Dump The Powdered Cleaners

Powdered RO cleaning chemistry is generally more effective than liquid alternatives. This presentation will show the performance of our new high pH, EDTA free and P free, liquid silica cleaner in addition to some of our other liquid alternatives.

Tuesday, 11/5; 9:00 AM MIchael Malone, AST Bead Filters Introduction and Application of PolyGeyser Floating Bead Filters for Industrial Wastewater Treatment

AST’s PolyGeyser bead filtration technology is a highly effective option for both biological and mechanical filtration wastewater applications. It is also capable of accomplishing both treatment processes simultaneously at high efficiencies. This presentation will provide an introduction and overview of this unique technology as well as offer examples of how a variety of industries are adopting the technology to tackle their own unique wastewater challenges.

Tuesday, 11/5; 9:30 AM Seth Ralston, Avista Technologies Common RO Myths: Busted

Commonly perceived misconceptions that reside in the membrane industry. We will review misconceptions has it relates to membrane process, design, and operations.

Tuesday, 11/5; 10:00 AM Chip Westaby, Benchmark Measurement Solutions / TDHI

Monitoring membrane feed water for oil and algae.

At very low concentrations oil, fuels, lubricants and chlorophyl can be measured by fluorescence on line monitors.  Intake upsets, spills near water inlets, leaking heat exchangers, etc. will be detected for membrane protection.  The membrane pretreatment systems can be optimized based on the measurement response.

During the presentation the fluoresce technology being specific for the target analytes with few interferences.  If you are involved with desalination (reverse osmosis or thermal), waste water recycling with membranes or operate cooling towers, you could learn something from attending.

Tuesday, 11/5; 11:00 AM Aarthi Narayanan, Nalco Water Novel deposit sensor to detect, identify and address deposition stress in cooling water

Nalco Water’s patented deposit sensor technology can not only detect deposits but also identify their type, helping to address deposition stress in cooling water systems. The technology operates on the principle of thermal decay and is connected to Nalco Water’s digital platform, ECOLAB3D, which provides insights into deposit probability and corrective actions to mitigate deposition risk in the system.

Tuesday, 11/5; 11:30 AM Corey Stewart, FEDCO Process Innovations in Ultra-High-Pressure Reverse Osmosis for ZLD, MLD, and Brine Mining Applications

The presentation outlines innovations in Ultra-High-Pressure Reverse Osmosis (UHPRO) for ZLD, MLD and brine mining applications. It covers UHPRO design principles with a focus on real-world case studies using brine staging and turbochargers to maximize UHPRO efficiency and reliability.

Tuesday, 11/5; 2:00 PM Adrian Brozell, Ph.D., LG Chem and David Kim-Hak, Energy Recovery Unlock Energy and Emissions Savings with LG MaxRO R and Low-Pressure PX

In this presentation we will introduce the new brackish water RO (BWRO) membrane element from LG Water Solutions — LG MaxRO R — and the new isobaric pressure exchanger from Energy Recovery the Low-Pressure PX. Via a techno economic analysis, we will show how the two products are synergistic.

With low-pressure RO systems operating at high recovery, often 75% or greater, the systems are configured in multi-stage array which results in higher combined differential pressure than single-stage systems. LG Chem’s ultra-low dP feed spacer minimizes the pressure drop across the multiple stages of low-pressure RO systems. The reduced pressure drop translates to higher residual pressure in the concentrate stream, which allows Energy Recovery’s LP PX to capture the additional hydraulic energy contained in the concentrate stream and maximize the power consumption reduction of low-pressure RO systems.
