Scaling UP! H2O Podcast

Scaling UP! H2O, the groundbreaking podcast for professionals in the water industry, is excited to announce the release of a new episode featuring Michael J. Soller, P.E., CPC, DBIA, Vice President of Business Development at Bowen Engineering and executive committee member of the International Water Conference (IWC). ESWP Members Scholarship Information

We are now accepting applications for the 2023 ESWP Members Scholarship.

The Scholarship is open to the spouse, children, or grandchildren (natural, step, adopted, or ward) of a member in good standing (one or more previous, continuous years) of the ESWP – please note that only the individuals listed on a corporate member firm roster are eligible).

The scholarships will be awarded to outstanding high school seniors or currently enrolled college undergraduate students, preparing for a career in engineering, architecture or applied sciences. The students must be accepted in an eligible, full-time course of study, at an accredited college or university. The awards will be made without regard to financial need.

Completed application forms are to be submitted to the ESWP Scholarship Committee, postmarked no later than July 31, 2023. Please email eswp@eswp.com to receive an application.

ESWP Annual Banquet

The ESWP Annual Awards Banquet was held on Thursday, March 9 with almost 500 guests in attendance!

WQED’s Rick Sebak was again the Master of Ceremonies, his 18th year in a row! Following a very busy social hour, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner served by the Westin Hotel. Following a slate of award presentations, the evening was highlighted by the William Metcalf Award, presented to George Mezey. Congratulations to all of our Award recipients! ESWP Award Winners announced!

The Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania has announced the recipients for our 2022 Awards.

For the Projects of the Year, the winners are, per category:

  • Transportation Category: The Southern Beltway
  • Water and Wastewater Category: M29 Overflow
  • Commercial Category: 1600 Smallman Street
  • Emergency Replacement Category: the Fern Hollow bridge

For the Recipients of the Individual Awards, we recognize:

  • Engineer of the Year: Stephen Shanley, Allegheny County DPW
  • Young Engineer of the Year: Michael Szurley, Pennsylvania DOT
  • Higher Educator of the Year: Dr. Joseph Samosky, PhD, University of Pittsburgh
  • STEM Educator of the Year: Thomas Brambley, PACyber Charter School

Also, as previously announced, the recipient of the 2023 William Metcalf Award for Lifetime Achievement has been awarded to George E. Mezey!
