ESWP Events!
We have a couple of great events planned for June at ESWP. Our annual PNC Park tailgate event is set for June 14 – this is a great night out at the ‘ol ballyard. Save the date.
On June 27, our two celebrity servers, (Bob Roell and Chris Hill), will be serving you in the dining room, that is, if you come out to lunch that day! This monthly event has been a lot of fun for everyone in attendance. Reservations, please.
And our third event in June is the Women’s Roundtable Luncheon on June 28. Remember: Men are welcome! The guests for this event are three local county commissioners -check our event page for details and to make a reservation.
Remember that ESWP will be closed over the week of July 4. Have a safe and happy summer holiday break!
“That waiter looks a lot like the President”
That’s what we expect to hear on February 28 when ESWP President Dan Cessna of PennDOT takes to the floor of the ESWP Members Executive Dining Room, walking the walk that the ESWP is literally here to serve you! Dan, accompanied by fellow Board Member Michelle Antantis of Duquesne Light Company will be the celebrity waiters on that day. Save room on your lunch schedule now to be a part of the day.
Soft Skills Update!
Soft Skills continues to draw! ESWP Board member Amy Veltri (NGE) presented an interesting and informative talk on the “soft skills” that everyone can benefit from in today’s workplace. Amy’s best advice: “Be creative, ask for opportunities, listen to directions, and know expectations and exceed them!”

ESWP Young Member Forum highlights
Summer fun! The ESWP Young Member Forum combined forces with those of the ASCE, ASHE, EWB, TBP and SAME in hosting a Summer Social on August 19. The event was held at the Pittsburgh Engineers’ Building and featured craft beers, and a special summer Sangria cooler, along with lots of great food. Each of the hosting groups provided a gift basket for door prize table, where attendees could try their luck at baskets of their choosing. Representatives from each of the hosting groups also previewed their upcoming continuing education activities. Keep an eye on the ESWP website for the next mixer, scheduled for the December holiday season. For more information on ESWP’s Young Member Forum, contact Outreach Coordinator Taylor Bombalski.

Greater PGH Arts Council Tour
ESWP sends a big thanks to member Tom Leech for volunteering to speak at the Sept 25 Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council walking tour, which hosted many international visitors.
From the GPAC: “It was a tremendous success, and I think that we made a great connection with the Nepali and Bhutanese community. Your talk was outstanding, and I loved hearing how you described the bridge like a backbone; your enthusiasm for bridges and Pittsburgh history was clearly evident.”
Thank you Tom!
